The cabins and so forth were being built at the Chicago facility. Some of the midsections and bows were built at Toledo, minus their shell plating, and towed by GLT to Lorain where they were joined with their stern sections. The Speer was definitely one of them as I have pictures of her leaving Toledo. (Just can't get to them right now.)
