What is the bulbous appendage located on the aft/port side of the Great Lakes Fleets AAA’s smoke stacks? Also, seems odd not seeing the lifeboats and davits on the Clarke, are the other two AAA’s losing their lifeboats and getting rafts too? Considering the frigid temperatures experienced during the winter lay-up months, how could shipsides be painted efficiently?
