Yes. The unloading rig on the Halifax is particularly high in relation to the original stack because she was also deepened by about 6 feet by raising her spar deck. The stack extension was added so that the smoke would not be trapped in the trailing air currents behind the unloading rig. Many of the boats that were converted with aft-mounted self-unloading rigs had their exhaust flues extended for the same reason, but not enough to warrant a full extension of the stack casing like the Halifax got.
