When the Blough was built, she was going to have installed a sulzer 6 clyinder engine. As she was being built, a decision was made by the owner's, USS to install an American made motor. That's how the Blough ended up with the pair of Colt engines, rather than the Sulzer. That decision also explains why the Blough has such a large engine room.
