This may end up being something like summer / fall 2001, when steel companies cut production to adjust inventories and many lakers went into temporary layups, long-term layups, and/or ended their seasons early. A wide variety of lakers were affected; modern river-class and medium-sized vessels, several 1950s-era steamers, and a few thousand-footers.
