I asked a world wide steamboat nut friend of mine your question and he said: There are two versions of Death on the Nile. One is a movie (1978) using paddle steamer MEMNON as the cruise boat KARNAK. The other is a BBC made for television version (2004) using SUDAN. I haven't seen the older one in a while but it opens at Aswan, and as far as I recall the scenes never leave the Nile. I haven't watched the other all the way through, but DELPHINE was then owned by the SIU.
