Ore Boat Seen in NJ?

I saw what appeared to be a traditional ore boat docked by the Carborundum plant in the Raritan River in central New Jersey. It had a grey hull. It was visible from the Parkway bridge. Would a Great Lakes boat be so far from the lakes? Thanks.
