Laviolette, is used for storage only, she is not an easy barge to pull or push, a couple of towing outfits can attest too that, Laviolette, as I understand, was not fully designed as a push barge, there is no notch, the wheel was removed, not sure about the rudder, I have a feeling that was removed as well, and no skags were added, at least to my knowledge, to stablelise her when pulling and towing, skags are like stationary rudders, that are added to both sides on the stern below the water line, I have spoken to a crew of one tug that was suppose to take her to toronto, but declined after pulling her from Trois Rivieres to Montreal, another tug companay took over and had problems with the tow, and it is aledged that the second towing company a tug was holed in the process.
