Becker Towing towed the Morton Salt No 1 from 1957 until about 1966. Great Lakes Towing towed it a couple of months, then Gaelic Tugboat towed it until it was replaced by a new barge, MS 74 in 1974. Go to www.gaelictugboat.com to see a photo of the job being done a few years ago. The job was picking up rock salt in Windsor and transporting it to Detroit. Gaelic hauled as much as 200,000 tons per year.
