The largest vessel that has transited the entire Manistee River channel is the Benson Ford (at I believe 767 feet), and that was many years ago now. The largest vessel to regularly enter the harbor was the Courtney Burton, and it hasn't been here for many years. The Herbert C. Jackson has paid at least one visit to Manistee. The largest vessel to start down the channel was the Great Lakes Trader it made it only to the Maple Street bridge and then backed down the channel to Lake Michigan. They were trying to see if they could transit the channel and they were empty at the time.
