The Charlie White was one of three near-sister C-4 troopships, originally built in 1946 that were converted to lakers in the early 50's, sailing for Republic, and later Cliffs. This boat, with the Tom Girdler and Thomas Patton were speedy boats, but only 600 foot in length and straight deckers. The recession did them in and all three were scrapped overseas together, believe Pakistan, around 80-81. Known also as the tomato-stackers, at least while in Republic colors, they were also very fuel-thirsty.
