The original B&O coal dock was on the West side of the Black River just below the lower turning basin, just about opposite the Jonick dock. The foundations can still be seen next to the new boat launch and park. The use of this dock was discontinued about the time the "new" coal dock was built near the mouth of the river. Does any one know about what year the old coal dock ceased operation and was there ever a time when both coal docks were in use? I suspect it was in the 1920's. I am also looking for pictures of the old coal dock in use. My Grandfather started his career there at the age of 13 in 1887 and he retired from the new coal dock fifty some years later.
