Howie, As the name suggests, pet coke or petroluem coke is derived from oil. It is an excellent burning burning fuel with a high BTU content and low ash value. It is commonly blended with western coal to raise the low BTU of western coal. Pet coke's only drawback is a high sulpur content, but this is lowered when mixed with other coals that have a low sulpur content. Hope this helps.
