The ship you are referring to is the ill fated passenger ship S.S. Royal Clipper. I watched her burn through the night of December 6, 1977. I was on a ship loading steel coils alongside at shed B-6 in the Bassin Pointe Du Moulin. We had a front row view of the whole fire as she was just across the slip from us. As the blaze was doused by the fire department the ship flooded and heeled over and remained there. She was beyond repair and eventually was towed to Port Maitland for scrapping in 1984.
