If you go north from Lock 1 towards the Port weller piers you can get real close to arriving and departing vessels. The steps at the North end of lock three, not the viewing tower, give a great shot. Above lock two there is a good area to see ships between two and three. Above Lock 1 there is also an open area. Lock 7 at the south end has an oper area and also usually has a great collection of sship enthusiasts there. Port Colborne also give several great viewing spots along the boardwalk. was just there todayfor about an hour and the Nindawayma is in Port Weller Drydocks. Commodore Straits is also there. Listen on channel 14 for cananl traffic and channel 11 for arrivals at either end of the canal. The voice recording ( 905 688 6462) does not list tankers, tank barges etc., so the radio is very useful. Ron Walsh Kingston, Ontario
