There have been a few rumors mentioned here lately about CSL building a few completely new ships in the near future and retiring the Halifax. Given the goings-on at Canadian shipyards recently, it's hard to say if they would still be going forward with that plan. If Canadian shipyard issues aren't squared away soon, there's a small chance they would find it advantageous to rebuild the Halifax rather than start from scratch. Such a project would be still be a pretty big undertaking, probably involving the addition of sponsons (like the Tadoussac, Atlantic Huron, etc.) and replacing her engine.
