on saturday nov 10, 1945 cleutus schneider stood by while bricoldoc had lost her steering and was drifting dangerously close to caribou island in lake superior. bricoldoc was able to jury rig steering using chain falls, cables and after winches. cletus schneider asked bricoldoc to lay her winch cables out on deck in case she had to go in and throw a line.
