She was in Toledo on Nov. 27, 1975 to load soya beans when an inspector condemned her, two days after the loss of the Edmumd Fitzerald. A Structural member below deck was considered too weak and she sailed in ballast to Port Colborne on Nov. 28 to lay up. There she was stripped of salvageable equipment the next day by Marine Salvage Ltd. She was laid up in the old section of the canal next to the former S & E Shipping's steamer Peter Robertson. She was sold to Marine Salvage for overseas scrap in 1976 and vandals set fire to her pilothouse on Aug. 26, 1978. She was towed to Quebec City, from where she departed on July 6, 1979 in tandem with former fleetmate Ferndale towed by the Polish tug Jantar arriving at Castellon, Spain on Aug. 3, 1979 for scrapping. info from Ahoy and Farwell II and other sources
