The "record" goes to the Robert S. McNamara. Between the Summer of 1966 and the Spring of 1971, the McNamara operated year round and made 1437 trips between Toledo and Detroit and never closed the hatches once. In fact, her telescoping hatch covers were discarded and a six foot high trunk was welded around each hatch toincrease her capacity.
