The boat was the Rouse Simmons and she sank in Lake Michigan and they found the wreck with all the remains of the trees still lashed to the deck. She had sailed out of Manistique. Its a great little documentary, and has been sung in Great Lakes Ballads by several singers. There are also several good books out on the story of "The Christmas Tree Ship" as its been known as. The "Old" Mackinaw had continued the tradition of transporting Christmas trees in recent years to Chicago for the lowcome to have a tree for Christmas. I wonder if the New Mack will also continue the tradition?
