Rene is right. Mathilda was supposed to be sell to a foreign owner. In june, they even painted the hull, covering Desgagnés famous yellow stripe while in Quebec City. But plans changed as Canartic (Desgagnés artic sub-company) needed one more vessel for the North this summer/fall (too much cargo for the arctic trio: Camilla, Cecilia and Anna Desgagnés). So they asked QC for good'ol Mathilda and they finally got it. My best buddy (who works for Canarctic) told that Desgagnés main staff in QC weren't pleased at all to canceled the deal... Back in the days, he sailed on Mathilda, Cecilia and Anna. He even went to Greenland, lucky! He confessed that sailing on the Mathilda wasn't a threat at all... Very old and unfunctionnal. Still a pretty ship tough...
