Seriously doubt that any lakers go through today, but when they were in service the Amoco tankers loaded at Whiting, IN, that is back there. There was a time when Inland's E. J. BLOCK used to take cargoes bact to the blast furnaces that are (were?) above the bridges, as well. Back in the early eighties, E. J. was such a handsome ship and it was always a treat to see her, but I always wondered why such a small ship would be kept in service until the day I saw her squeezing through the five bridges with ore.
