I wish to know more about it's deposition as well. My understanding is that it came to the lakes in 1970, was immediately converted to a barge and ran between Windsor and Detroit from 1970 to 1976. Then it was transfered to the Sarnia to Port Huron run. Both places it was paired with the tug Margaret Yorke, a towboat with twin engines and azimuthing (z) drives. In 1970, Canadian National also converted the former Pere Marquette 12 into a barge named St. Clair. The St. Clair, being larger than the Scotia II, was teamed with the towboat Phyllis Yorke, which was identical to the Margaret Yorke, except that the Phyllis Yorke had three engines and z drives. The CN ferry service ended April 4, 1995 and it is my understanding that both barges were purchaed by McKeil Marine of Hamilton. Last I knew the St. Clair was being used a dock for tankers and tank barges in Amhurstberg, Ont. but the Scotia II seems to have dropped out of site. The revised edition of Ahoy and Farewell (The Marine Historical Society of Detroit, 2001) states the Scotia II was still in Hamilton in 2000. ***************** The link below has a couple of fuzzy photos of the Scotia II near the end of its service at Sarnia. http://pics.boatnerd.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=Railroad-Ferries
