Contrary to popular blief, the L E BLOCK is in excellent condition. Her aft cabins are a mess, but the E/R is nearly mint... bilges clean, hardly any rust anywhere. She needs paint really bad obviously and the pigions sure have 'made home' of any room they can get into, but all in all, she's in very nice condition, structurally. IMS should get some nice steel out of her! She was surveyed last year and her hull found to be beautiful. Tanks look good, paint still in place, frames are beautiful. She was spun around so her fuel tanks could be heated and the oil pumped off, in prep for tow. But I never thought she'd be going for scrap. A buyer was lined up down in Miami. Not sure what happened. I have a ton of photos if anyone wants to see, I can post a gallery someday.
