The Tilden and Empire mines south of Marquette ship via both Marquette and Escanaba. They only receive Limestone via Marquette. Neither facility is equipped to dump ore cars filled with Limestone so it is easier to have it arrive via truck. Only Minntac and Ispat (Minorca) receive Limestone via rail on the Mesabi Range. Hibtac, Keetac, and Unitac receive theirs via truck as well. Also Limestone is only needed if the plant produces Fluxed pellets which are the large pellets. Acid Pellets (marble sized) do not use Limestone.
