Chet - It is common to see boats pass in that stretch of the St. Clair between Algonac and Marine City. It is the widest and straightest portion of the river between Detroit and Port Huron. During the summers at our place at Cherry Beach, it was very common to see boats get passed. We have even seen them go three wide when a upbound light passes a upbound heavy and a downbound boat in the same stretch.
