The Steamer Harry Wm. Hosford, 1903-1961 was 530' x 50' x 28', and was built by the Jenks Ship Building Company, Port Huron, Michigan. Her original name was F. B. SQUIRE. She was lengthend 96' in 1921 and given last name in 1936. It seems that the ship led a rather uneventful life and was scrapped in 1961. The above is from the namesakes series. From the 1947 Ship Masters Directory: Harry Wm. Hosford, 9000 ton capacity, 512.9' x 50.2' x 28'. arch built, side tanks, 16 hatches on 24' ctrs. Compartment capacities, 1-1700, 2-1700, 3-1700, 4-2200, 5-1700. I wonder why the difference in lengths between the two sources?
