Like most of those saltie conversions she guzzled huge volumes of Bunker C and carried a couple of 5 gallon buckets worth of pellets. That after hold was a shallow one because the propeller shaft ran directly under it. As mid summer tonage was around 18,500, any attempt would have been a real Rube Goldberg.
