One thing I learned from 30 years in the Coast Guard is never say never! I remember a time in the mid 90's when Mackinaw as to be decommisioned, crew had orders to new assignments, and I had bet a steak dinner with the Captain that it wouldn't happen. Guess what? It didn't. I never did get the steak dinner either. I did get another year on Mackinaw though. I will believe it when they lower the flag and the Jack. maybe!
