It's an interesting question, Patrick. Looking at the vessel, though, it looks most to me like one of the U.S. Lighthouse Service tenders, before that agency was absorbed into the U.S. Coast Guard. Most of them had names of plants or flowers (as did the later USCG buoy tenders) like Iris and Gentian and Cowslip and Primrose. Note the winch forward of the deckhouse -- consistent with unloading a season's worth of foodstuffs and building materials at the often-remote lighthouse locations. If you want, I'll scan and send a photo of a similar tender.
