Paul, I really enjoyed your pics - it's great to be able to see how the gates open and close (have only seem from the top), to see the ports at the bottom of lock 5 (the old ones where sailers could walk up in the early days of the canal have all been removed), to see the caisons set in below Lock 4, and to see the dumping port for Lock 2. It would have been nice to be able to see the intake ports for one of the locks though. I think I see them on the inside walls of Lock 6. If you could take one of them (if you have any spare time) it would be appreciated. Also, out of curiousity - the guard gate. I never saw this but we always tied up below and above when I was sailing. I assume it was just a set of gates so they could drain above Lock 7..... Jim
