I have only one experience to draw from and this is from back in 1956/57. I sailed as deckhand/deckwatch for Great Lakes Steamship (not GLF) in 1956. During the winter, Wilson Transit bought out Great Lakes. The next spring all the boats (12?) of Great Lakes sailed with the Wilson "W" on the stack. All the crews were employed by Wilson. All the Mates/Engineers were employed by Wilson, but at lower positions then they had with Great Gakes. The Wilson Mates/Engineers all moved up in seniority and the Great Lakes officers were at the bottom of the seniority list. The Captain on the John Dunn Jr. had been a 1st Mate with Wilson the year before and he benefited from the takeover. I believe the same or something similar will happen with the ON sale.
