Hello Peter. Maybe I can be of help with your question. Last year I gave a presentation on the world ship society branch in Rotterdam about the Great Lakes. One part was about the history of the seaway including the Lachine canals. I did a lot of research on the internet and found some interesting pictures. Have you tried google ?
