Just to fill in a few years to Russ': 1943-3rd mate-Str. Black, 1946-3rd Mate-August Zeising, 1948-3rd Mate part of season on Str. Clyde, 1950-Temp. 2nd Mate on Str. George G. Crawford, 1951-2nd Mate-Widener,1952-2nd Mate-Joshua A. Hatfield, 1955-2nd Mate- Percival Roberts,Jr., 1959- 1st Mate- William J. Filbert and Henry H. Rogers, 1960- 2nd mate/1st Mate-William B. Dickson, 1961- 3rd and Temp. 2nd- B.F. Affleck, 1962-2nd-Eugene J. Buffington. My records show he was to be retired in 1981 but he probably took early retirement. A lot of them did, as did my dad. Hope this helps out.
