I read Mr. Brewster’s post on the Cedarville (Much respect to him and all the other sailors who have had to face the biggest fear every mariner has) and the part about the rat infestation kind of gained my interest (oddly enough). I realize it has been 40 years since the Cedarville, and to this day I have worked 5 boats and haven’t ran into anything more offensive than the Mayflies that coat the ships in early July on the St. Mary’s river. Has the Coast Guard upped inspections to reduce vermin? I know it is a weird question but I thought the days of rats and scurvy were left at the turn of the century. (I did run into a few bears on the dock at Superior.) Brian
