Hi Tom The Simmonds is an RCMP fast aluminum catamaran patrol craft that is being transfered to the Joint Canadian Coast Guard/RCMP Security Patrol Fleet. It is 57.75' long, 22' wide and draws 1.87'. It has twin screw diesel propulsion at 1223KW. Cruising speed of 25 kts, Max speed of 35 kts. It was built at Chantier Navale in Matane Quebec in 1995. There is no word as yet to where the vessel will be stationed and what its patrol area will be. Two other interm vessels will also be used for this job. The Cape Hurd, and the Louis M. Lauzier. These vessels will be used in this capacity until the new security patrol vessels are built. 4 of these vessels are being built. J
