Jim, you need an OUTV license (Operator of Uninspected Towing Vessel) - which covers any "uninspected" tug. Of course, any tug over 150 GRT falls under the ABS rules when you are outside the harbor - as inspected, and who knows what will happen with the new rules coming. The OUTV license was "done away with" a couple years ago and now you have a "Master of Towing Vessel" addition to your Masters license and are restricted to your tonnage. Franz
