I can only imagine this was the *Cliffs Victory,* which emerged in June 1951 from the South Chicago yard of the American SBCo following her conversion into an ore carrier from the VC2-S-APS "Victory" ship *Notre Dame Victory* at that yard and, before, the Sparrows Point, Maryland, yard of the Bethlehem SBCorp. She was also lenthened at South Chicago in 1957, so maybe she witnessed the vessel coming out of the drydock then. Gary's less than twenty miles from the ASBCo yard east out Rt. 12, but no shipbuilding there. This was the only Cliffs boat so converted on Lake Michigan.
