In my opinion, the smell of hot oil and coal smoke are a sensory experience that I never want to loose (I have even wanted to refill one of those electric air freshner bottles with steam engine cylinder oil as an experiment). It might sound crazy, but you can have your fancy air "freshners" and flower shows. Give me a good dose of coal smoke and a few cinders in my hair any day!!! Diesel fuel just permiates everything and smells bad. I almost bought a diesel Mainship trawler once and was amazed how much you could smell the diesel.
