During my first year of boat watching I was camped at Algonac State Park when I seen a bulk carrier back up the Thames River. This carrier was the J. Claire Miller in Columbia Colors. I have her listed as 545 feet long and 55 foot beam. It was probably her last year of service and possibly her last trip as it was in October of 1969. She was sold for scrap in 1973.
