I don't know if this is the same individual but I have several listings for a Fred J. Simpson. However, he was with the Detroit & Cleveland Navigation COmpany and not the Detroit Windsor Ferry Company. He was Captain of the City of Mackinac from 1903 - 1910, Captain of the Eastern States in 1911, Captain of the City of Cleveland III in 1912, Captain of the City of Detroit III from 1913 - 1916, and Captain of the City of St. Ignace in 1917. He was also Marine Superintendent for Detroit & Cleveland Navigation from 1920 - 1923.
