Loading at Taconite Harbor is an experience not easily forgotten.So much dust that pick axes were required to dig out the hatch crane tracks.On 1,000'ships you couldn't see the bow,if you got an in-board list the mate had to be careful because shuttles don't extend out far enough to straighten out the ship.No place for the crew to go within walking distance.Duluth/Superior both have reclaim capabilities.Taconite Harbor you sit & wait for the trains to arrive to finish your load.Shorter sailing distance is the only benefit to be gained from Taconite Harbor.
