Spent this weekend in the Tawas area and there was a tall ship in Tawas Bay. We spotted it again Sunday on the way back home. Anyone know which it is? The Appledore doesn't come that far north does it? Also while south on 23 we heard a siren and pulled off to the shoulder to see a US Coast Guard SUV pulling a approx. 25' boat (with bow strip) flying down the road heading north on 23. Was there some sort of accident? Ok last question. In all the years that I have been going up that way, I have only caught 4 ships loading at the National Gypsum or US Gypsum dock. I know the US plant and dock is out of commission. I saw the Richard Reiss there about 5-8 years ago (the Orange stake gave her away), and the John J. Boland (3), in 97 at the National dock, and the Sam Laud twice between 2002, and 2003. What is the average yearly number of visitors to the National Gypsum dock just south of Tawas? It seems the traffic at that dock is very low. Brian
