Mr. Fitzgerald was chairman of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee, the owner of the boat. It was being operated by Columbia Transportation on a bareboat charter. Mr. Fitzgerald was no relation to the Fitzgerald family you mention. I think he was related to W.E. Fitzgerald, for whom a Gartland boat was named. In that respect, there may have been some relationship to the Sullivan family that owned Gartland- but I think that W.E. and Captain Denis Sullivan were only friends.
