The Algoma website says she will arrive at the Canadian East Coast around July, 2004, and is expected to enter service at Dartmouth, NS during August, 2004. She is intended mainly for coastal and Arctic service, but will be Lakes-capable too. Interestingly enough, MaritimeData.com shows that Algoma has another tanker on order from a different Chinese shipyard, due to be completed March 2005. MaritimeData incorrectly lists this second ship as the "Algoscotia" and the real "Algoscotia" as an unnamed newbuild. A second new tanker for Algoma would make sense, since they are removing three existing tankers from their fleet; the Algocatalyst is pending sold, the Algofax (ex Imperial Bedford) will be removed from service when the Algoscotia arrives on the scene, and the Algosar (ex Imperial St. Clair) will be removed from service at the end of this shipping season. In addition, Algoma is seeking to operate the Gemini under the Canadian flag.
