In my opinion the NEW Mackinaw will become a very costly replacement for Acacia, and the REAL Mackinaw will remain in use. I still don't think the NEW Mackinaw is going to do what the Mackinaw now does. I forsee the Coast Guard going to Congress in a couple years and begging for funding to renovate Mackinaw. The plans are all in place and have been for years. All they need now is a large bag of money. The other option is someone will buy it and use it as an icebreaker.
