Guess they're running a boat marathon this week. The Bismark show was very well done, detail that you can't do in 1 hour. Another pretty good show on U-boats last night. There was also a very interesting show on US shipyards, history, and their problems with overseas competition. Focused mostly on Bath iron Works + Newport News, interesting old footage. Also, the night before, Travel channel had an excellent detailed tour inside the world's mega-ports. Didn't see it all, but it covered at least Long Beach + Rotterdam in detail, included pilot operations, riding container cranes, operations centers etc. It reported Rotterdam sees 400 vessels per day. Included unmanned container hauling trucks, X-ray machine that handles 2 container trucks at a time fast. Hope it gets repeated. Also, Deep Sea Detectives repeat of Andrea Doria show. It appears she is in much worse shape than Titanic, after being down a much shorter time. Whole superstructure has collapsed inward, sealing off the entire interior. I wonder if the superstructure was thinner steel than Titanic, or maybe aluminum? Or perhaps just because she's on her side and is more stressed? Finally, a good show on Travel showing Columbia Bar pilots. Very wild water across the bar! Somehow it merged into a show about Alaska crabbers, been on before, but gives one pause...
