When I collected stamps many years ago, I remembered a stamp (issued in 1955) that commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the Soo Locks. The Post Office always had a special "First Day of Issue" cancellation in the "City of Issuance" - the actual city and state where a particular stamp is first issued and sold to the public (this city usually has a special significance with the subject depicted on the stamp). Obviously, Sault Ste. Marie, MI was that city. I recently purchased one of those "First Day Covers" which shows three ships - one on the actual stamp, and two on the "First Day Cover." Anyone care to take a guess at the names of the ships? I do not know the identity of these ships myself :O(. Here is the photo of that Cover: http://dlund.20m.com/images/Soofdc.jpg - Thanks. - Dick Lund
