A camal is a small, flat deck barge that in this case will keep the footer away from the damaged dock. In the Navy, we use camals all the time when anchored out in ports that don't have enough water to bring the ship pierside. The crew first goes down a ladder to the camal and then boards the liberty boats (motor life boats) to go ashore. Regads, Mike
