In the early to mid 80's prior to its closure Collingwood built some 730 footers (Lake Wabush, Algowest, Paterson) which all were straight deckers and subsequently converted to self-unloaders. What were the economics that could possibly have been operating to make a new ship feasible even then, without self unloading gear? Also anyone with pictures or video of Collingwood side launches, I would be interested in hearing from you. My email is attached. David
